Why Do We Love Classic Cars

Cars are like visual memories, as we get a little older we want to recreate those memories, maybe it was that first car that you had or wish that you had, it could be the car that your friends or parents had.

We all have memories of them cool and sometimes not so cool cars. Maybe you were lucky enough to have had a Firebird or Camaro growing up, or it might have been a VW Bug that was passed down to you, it doesn’t matter what the car was we probably have some fond memories of them. I’ve had lots of cool cars but my favorite car to drive was a ‘72 Dodge Colt, how about you, did you have a favorite car.

Classic cars and family

Some of us were lucky enough to have had parents that were in to the classic car hobby, watching their dad work on the car in their garage, it’s cool to hear them stories, others might of have had parent that was into to drag racing cars. If you haven’t had a chance to go watch a drag race event, I highly recommend checking it out it’s a blast, one of my favorites is Eagle Field Drags. For our family it was go cart racing, my dad, mom and brothers were into the go cart racing hobby, I remember it clearly but unfortunately after my mom had an encounter with a wall and me being the youngest, I missed out in all the fun of racing them little speed demon’s.

Classic cars and community

As a classic car enthusiast and photographer shooting these classic cars and talking with the owners of these cool rides over the years I found that the passion and the camaraderie for these cars runs deep. One of the best parts about the classic car hobby is the community it doesn’t matter what type of car that you are into. Go to a car show and you might see a muscle car next to a lowrider a truck next to a gasser, it doesn’t matter. Everyone of these classic car owners and enthusiast have at least one thing in common and that is classic cars, such a great hobby to be a part of whether you have a classic car or just enjoy checking them out.

Now what

How about Gen-X are they into classic cars, yes some are in to classic cars and others are going to have their own generation of classic cars as they are creating their memories with their own cars. Remember the muscle cars from the 60’s and 70’s that we just called cars, like the Camaro, Charger, and Mustang now we see the new muscle cars like Camaro’s, Challenger’s and Mustang’s among others, this will be their classic cars in the future.

These new cars in general are more powerful than our classics, they have air conditioning and power everything, what’s not to like about them. Personally I like and prefer the classics and traditional hot rods, but I can definitely see why these new muscle cars are so popular.

Their love for this new generation of muscle cars run deep also, it seems like they stick more together with the type of car they have whether it’s a Camaro, Mustang or Challengers, it seems like there is a group for every type of car, soon we will have a group for cars that can drive them selves. Maybe we need to draw the line somewhere and for me its cars that can drive them selves. What are the classic cars in the future for our younger generations going to be, I’m guessing Uber and Lift “are they car models”
