Gene Winfield's recent Get Together at the Winfield's Rod and Custom Shop, which is outside of the small town of Mojave in Southern California. There were legendary custom cars scattered about at Gene’s shop like The Reactor, Bubble Top Strip Car, and the Machete 600hp D50 Twin Turbo.
On the front clip of the 1928 Ford Roadster was painted 2009 Bonneville Record 153.688; below that was 2011 El Mirage 151.634. As I walked around the car, there were stickers from Bonneville Speed Week 2007 thru 2018, and on the inside, there were five metal timing tags.
How fast is driving a car 200 mph, 250 or even 300 plus mph, we all know that it is super fast but until we see these cars in person at events like El Mirage Dry Lake Races, it’s hard to realize what those speeds are really like
