Antique Nationals at Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, CA was a fantastic event organized by the Four Ever Four club. Antique Nationals is open to vehicles 1959 and earlier. The Antique Nationals and Four Ever Four club have lots of history in Southern California. Hot-rodding and Drag Racing events go hand in hand in SoCal.

Every year people make the trek from all over California down to Santa Maria to attend the Crusin' Nationals sponsored and put together by West Coast Kustoms. From what everyone said about the event, I knew it would be a blast, But, now that I attended Crusin' Nationals, I found out it was beyond my expectations.

Gene Winfield's recent Get Together at the Winfield's Rod and Custom Shop, which is outside of the small town of Mojave in Southern California. There were legendary custom cars scattered about at Gene’s shop like The Reactor, Bubble Top Strip Car, and the Machete 600hp D50 Twin Turbo.

Eagle Field Drags a semi-yearly drag race event located on an old Air Force training facility in the heart of the California agriculture area. With its airstrip and the old military atmosphere. Eagle Field is a perfect place for an old-school drag race event.

The yearly event is held at the historic Santa Margarita Ranch, a short 30 min drive from the California coast in Santa Margarita, CA. The drag strip is an old aircraft landing strip located on the Ranch.

While in Clovis, CA, at the Old Town Motorama car show, I heard what sounded like a hotrod coming down the street. I turned and saw a Dodge truck that blew me away. It was black with red striping, and it had a perfect stance that looked to be about 1' lower than a stock truck, a great choice of wheels.

As you walked thru the gate at Ventura Nationals you were greeted with a gorgeous 29 Ford Roadster sitting next to the Roadster was a beautifully painted 1965 Buick Riviera over to the right was a great looking bare metal 1937 Zephyr and around the corner was a killer Model A you just knew it was going to be a great day.

The kick off to hot August Nights starts in the old western town of Virginia City Nevada where the old mining town and some would say ghost town really comes to life with hundreds of classic cars

Eagle Field drags is the perfect place to experience drag racing how it was back in the day either as a participant in your garage built hotrod or in the stands as a spectator its a must attend event

When Hot Rod Coaltion has an event they always get a tremendous turn out, and Old Town Motorama was no exception

The heritage of hot rodding runs deep in Southern California, just about every hotrod event in California is in the Southern part of the state, it’s also the home of the El Mirage Land Speed Races. The El Mirage land speed race event is a special place for hot rodders it’s where they have been racing for over for well over 50 yrs

On the front clip of the 1928 Ford Roadster was painted 2009 Bonneville Record 153.688; below that was 2011 El Mirage 151.634. As I walked around the car, there were stickers from Bonneville Speed Week 2007 thru 2018, and on the inside, there were five metal timing tags.

In 2019 Exotics on Cannery Row in Monterey moved a few miles away to the little town of Seaside along the central California coast and is now called Exotics on Broadway.

Hundreds of classic car owners and enthusiasts came out to support the community. During events organized by Hot Rod Coalition, Goombahs Car Club, and Yuba-Sutter Toy Run events.

When you go to an event like Eagle Field Drags and hear that car fire up in the distance your adrenaline goes up a notch and when you get up to the strip and see, hear and feel the car as it shoots off the starting line you will be hooked on the drag race scene.

How fast is driving a car 200 mph, 250 or even 300 plus mph, we all know that it is super fast but until we see these cars in person at events like El Mirage Dry Lake Races, it’s hard to realize what those speeds are really like

RPM Nationals is one of the premiere hot rod events in California

When Hot Rod Coalition announced they were putting together a cruise event, I knew it would be a good day. If you attend or bring your ride out to one of their events, you will have a great time, like Valley Nationals or Rods On The Bluff or one of the other events that they put together.
